Girlyteck.com is a Web site dedicated to support women in computer science and technology, by providing resources and information to women interested in Computer Science and Technology. Computer Science and technology continues to be largely male dominated. Technology is no longer for the stereotypical male gamer/geek, but an area that needs input from many different disciplines. The Internet and Web development encompass areas like, graphic design, marketing, human and computer interaction, and communications.
Feel free to submit any articles of interest that you feel would make this site a better resource for all of us.
Our goal is to gain greater visibility for women in computer science and technology and reach out to younger females who are interested in pursuing this field of study.
Eleanor Roosevelt is probably the most well known women of the twentieth century. She was an inovator and an inspiration to women and minorities all throughout her life. If Eleanor Roosevelt were still alive she would likely support women in Computer Science, and equality among women pursuing this career path. For further reading about the former First Lady see this PBS page about Eleanor - The American Experience, an interesting and accurate record about her life and achievements.
Hillary Clinton is now leading the way as a voice for all women and I urge you to support her 2008 Presidential campaign in any way possible.
As women, daughters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, or mentors we should continue to support the youth of our nation to strive for fair and equal treatment in our society. Not only do women get turned down for employment that they are qualified for, but there also exists a wage gap. when compared to mens salaries who are in comparable positions.
We have searched the Internet for the biggest and best scholarships available to women in Computer Science, so that you do not have to wade your way through tons of irrelevant information in order to apply for scholarships that fit your needs. This page will only contain scholarship information for currently scholarships. Most organizations are now, or will be, accepting applications for Fall of 2008.
